Getting That Job!
Landing a successful job interview can be one of the hardest but rewarding acivements a persons life, especially when your just starting out in your chosen filed of employment. Not only do you have to compete against twenty, thirty or even fifty other great applications but you also may have to be willing to move away from family and loved ones, this can have an effect on your performance in the job interview. We thought the best way to help in getting that job and keeping focused when your in an interview was to ask industry experts who have been about the block and get them to share their knowledge and experiences.
Earlier this week I spoke to an industry expert from the ABC who not only an expert on Indigenous Employment in the media industry and has been in the industry for many years. Paul Brant is the Indigenous Employment Coordinator at ABC and has a massive task in establish strategies and programs to improve and increase Indigenous employment at the ABC on a national scale. Paul has kindly shared his top five industry tips for getting that job.

The Black Book Directory lists more than 2,700 Indigenous people and organisations working in the arts, media and cultural industries. You can search listings by their state, Indigenous nation or language group, name and category.
A list of 2,000 Indigenous works of music, literature and screen productions can be sourced through the Black Book Library on this site.
